Ladakh has to be one of the most beautiful and peaceful places on earth that I have ever experienced. Even though the landscape is very arid, the surrounding peaks of the Himalayas and lush cottonwood trees add to its beauty. The people here are also beautiful and very warm and jovial, and live a simple subsistence life-style. Our travelers had the pleasure of stay in a local Ladakhi home on our last trip, which was truly an honor! See more photos of our trip here .
Often called "Little Tibet," Ladakh is one of the last places in the world where the Buddhist way of life is unrepressed and many Tibetan refugees have settled here. The region was once an independent Buddhist kingdom at the crossroads of the Silk Road between China and the Middle East. Ladakh is now part of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir in one of the northernmost regions in India, and although it is a remote part of India, it is a destination that im电竞官网下载s will always travel to.
As part of our service work in Ladakh, we have the distinction to support two organizations that preserve the culture of Ladakhis, namely the Siddhartha School Project and the Ngari Institute of Buddhist Dialectics, which hosts orphans or children from very poor, local families who normally wouldn’t be able to send them to school.
